About the Committee
The Utilities Committee shall research, investigate and develop public policy and advocate for public utilities and information technology for the City. The Committee shall oversee the operations of the Department of Public Utilities and the services that it provides, as well as any legislation, operations and policies that impact utilities and their access and use; the Committee shall ensure that all utility services are being provided at a reasonable cost and shall examine any increase in service fees and rates when necessary.
The Committee shall review the financial stability and operation of the city’s public utility enterprise funds and shall explore how physical infrastructure and distribution methods can improve information technology, digitalization and smart technology to enhance our internal and external city operations.
