Third Annual Music Keynote to the City to Honor Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
Sep 23, 2025
Cleveland, Ohio - September 23, 2025 - Councilman Brian Kazy and members of Cleveland City Council will honor legendary hip-hop group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony with the third annual Music Keynote to the City.
The free event will take place on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Union Home Mortgage Plaza beginning at 3 pm. A special performance by the group will follow the recognition ceremony. Tickets to the event are required and are free with RSVP. Get tickets here.
Formed in Cleveland in 1991, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony—comprised of Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone—emerged from humble beginnings to achieve international acclaim. After a pivotal audition with rapper Eazy-E in 1993, the group signed with Ruthless Records and released their breakthrough EP Creepin on ah Come Up the following year.
“This Keynote Award means more than recognition – it’s confirmation. Confirmation that our story, our struggles, and our sound meant something deeper than music. From Cleveland’s corners to the classrooms, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony inspired a generation to believe in their own voice,” said Krayzie Bone. “To be only the third music group to receive this honor? That’s legacy. That’s love. And that’s why we’ve always done it - for the people.”
Known for their signature blend of rapid-fire rhymes and harmonies, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony went on to earn a Grammy Award and sell millions of records worldwide. Today, they remain one of Cleveland’s most celebrated musical groups, carrying the city’s name across the globe through their artistry and success.
"For the third year in a row, we are honored to partner with Councilman Kazy and the City to provide the backdrop for the Music Keynote to the City ceremony. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony have collaborated with many Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, including Easy-E, Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Phil Collins," said Rock & Roll Hall of Fame President & CEO Greg Harris. "Formed in Cleveland, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony have continued to give back to their city, and now the city will come together on the plaza of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame to give back to them."
In recent years, the group signed with Greenback Records in 2024 and made a notable appearance on the final episode of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney in May 2025, further cementing their enduring impact in music and popular culture.
“The Music Keynote to the City award is presented annually to artists with deep ties to Cleveland who have left an indelible mark on the world of music. This recognition not only honors Bone Thugs-N-Harmony for their extraordinary contributions to music,” said Councilman Kazy, “But it also celebrates the pride they have brought to Cleveland as true hometown icons.”
