Ribbon Cutting for Finished Longfellow Senior Housing Project

Cleveland (Oct. 25, 2023) – Join Ward 8 Councilman Mike Polensek and many others for the official ribbon cutting for the Longfellow Senior Housing complex on Thursday, Oct. 26^th. 

The Longfellow project not only add new senior housing in Ward 8, but it repurposed the historic landmarked Henry W. Longfellow School in the Collinwood community.  

Eighty new affordable senior apartments are spread between the historic rehabilitation of the existing Longfellow School and a new building on site that includes an enclosed connecting walkway providing residents easy access to features in both buildings without exposure to inclement weather and slippery sidewalks. The entire project cost about $23.5 million.

“I’ve long advocated for these historic schools throughout Cleveland to be reused for projects like this,” said Councilman Polensek. “I am so excited about this project. The Longfellow building is beautiful and the project brings needed senior housing to this section of Collinwood Village.

“I have to thank so many that made this project possible, including Gov. Mike DeWine, my fellow Council members, Cleveland Restoration Society and the Vesta Corporation who specialize in these type of redevelopments and who brought in Marous Brothers Construction to complete the transformation.”
