Democracy Building Fellowships Available for Ward 15 Residents

Mar 30, 2021

Councilmember Jenny Spencer is proud to announce Democracy Building Fellowships for Ward 15.

Ward 15 residents may apply for two different scholarship opportunities – one to a two-day racial equity training and another to an 8-week community organizing training. Applications are due on Friday, April 30.

“Ward 15 is one of the most diverse and multicultural communities in the city of Cleveland. In addition, we’re home to passionate residents who care about their community and have strong ideas for how they’d like to see it improve,” said Councilmember Spencer. “These are two of the best training opportunities I’ve ever experienced, personally. I’m pleased to offer these scholarships for residents who want to grow as citizens, deepen their leadership skills, and put their ideas into action.”

The racial equity & inclusion fellowship will cover full tuition for the two-day training through the Racial Equity Institute and ThirdSpace Action Lab. For more information about Phase I racial equity training, visit 3rdspaceactionlab.co/2021rei.

The second fellowship will cover full or partial tuition for an 8-week online program on the theory and practice of community organizing. For more information about this, visit http://bit.ly/OrganizingforChange2021.

To apply, residents should e-mail council15@clevelandcitycouncil.org to receive a link to a Google Form application for one or both scholarships.

The Ward 15 Council office is looking for participation and diversity from across the Ward, and the applicant must indicate their willingness to make the time commitment to the training(s). Resident applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants may contact the Ward 15 office with any questions at (216) 664-4235 or council15@clevelandcitycouncil.org.
