The “Revolutionary Summer (basketball) League” will return again to Jefferson Park in Ward 16, represented by Councilman Brian Kazy.

The summer league started last summer, when Councilman Kazy brought in Impact Youth Inc., a youth mentoring program, to hold this basketball league at his popular park.

Last summer, 125 youth participated in the program which included completing classes and training on conflict resolution and neighborhood outreach before the actual basketball started.

Councilman Kazy said at the time, “All these kids who are out there earned their way onto the court,” adding,  “This is what happens when a community comes together.”

All 17 council members supported funding at the recent meeting through their casino revenue funds to the program, which is not to exceed $40,000.

Impact Youth, Inc provides a community based mentoring and training program designed to actively engage young female and male student athletes in the Cleveland area. The aim is to “properly condition their mindset and skill set” to improve their quality of life for themselves, their family, and their community.

The  Revolutionary Summer League at Jefferson Park for ages 9-21 starts in June 2023. Impact Youth has a pre-registration on their website here: impactyouthinc.org
