Join Council Members Santana and Kelly for the Mercedes Cotner Park Grand Re-Opening

Sep 27, 2023

Cleveland – (Sept. 27, 2023) – Join Councilwoman Jasmin Santana, with Councilman Danny Kelly manning the grill, for the grand re-opening of the renovated Mercedes Cotner Park at 3 pm tomorrow (9/28).

The renovated park includes a new playground for littles to teens, a multi-purpose gathering area, new security lighting and an outdoor bicycle pump track, the first of its kind in the city. (You can do pump track riding on almost any kind of bike, though a smaller bike with less suspension is considered optimal.)

Officials from the Division of Park and Maintenance and Properties will be on hand to talk about the renovations at the park, once known at Sunrise Park, which also includes a splash pad, additional parking, and the area around the swimming pool redesigned, as well as a wide walkway though the center of the park for better access. The renovation and redesign cost about $1.8 million.

“I’m so excited this renovation is complete,” said Councilwoman Santana. “This park offers neighbors a great place for family fun and also green space for relaxing and being in nature.”

The community event includes a DJ and free hotdogs and hamburgers, sponsored by Brooklyn Urgent Care, and runs to 6 pm.

Who: Ward 14 Councilwoman Jasmin Santana, Ward 11 Councilman Danny Kelly, and officials from Cleveland’s Capital Projects division.

What: Ribbon cutting and community event for newly renovated Mercedes Cotner Park with free music and hot dogs and hamburgers.

Where: 3 pm, Thursday Sept. 28th  at the park, West 95th and Maywood Avenue.
