Council Meeting Highlights (9/29/25)

City Council convened its regular in-person meeting in Council Chambers, which was also live-streamed. The next meeting is Oct. 6th. Please note, Council emails are changing to .gov, though our .org emails will continue during the transition. Below are the highlights from today's meeting:

City To Sell Bonds for Parks, Recreation Facilities, Streets, Sidewalks, Bridges, and Trucks: Council approved several pieces of legislation, which were amended,  that allow the city to go out for general obligation bonds:

  • authorizing the construction, rehabilitation, renovation, or replacement of various public facilities, buildings, and other similar structures. The amount is $12.739 million from general obligation bonds. Ord. No. 846-2025
  • authorizing the construction, rehabilitation, installation, or improvement of parks and recreational facilities. The amount is $6.28 million with general obligation bonds. Ord. No. 847-2025
  • authorizing the construction, rehabilitation, installation, or improvement of streets, sidewalks, or infrastructure (roads and bridges) within the City’s right of way. The amount is $13.045 from general obligation bonds. Ord. No. 848-2025
  • authorizing the purchase by one or more standard and requirement contracts for the purchase, lease, or lease with option to purchase, of various heavy-duty trucks and equipment, for the various divisions of the City government. The amount is $1.29 million for general obligation bonds. Ord. No. 852-2025
  • authorizing the purchase by one or more standard and requirement contracts for the purchase, lease, or lease with option to purchase, of various light-duty vehicles and equipment, for the various divisions of City government. The amount is $2.69 million in general obligation bonds. Ord. No. 853-2025
     

Introductions 

Legislation was introduced "to determine the method of making" high-comfort pedestrian and bicycle improvement at various locations. The city applied for and received a $5.45 million grant from the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency. Ord. No.1218-2025

1. East 55th Street from Opportunity Corridor to Broadway Avenue.
2. Ontario Street from Lakeside Avenue to Huron Road.
3. Lakeside Avenue from West 9th Street to East 13th Street.
4. Berea Road from Triskett Road to Detroit Avenue.
5. St. Clair Avenue from East 55th Street to East 101st Street.
6. West 44th Street from Franklin Boulevard to Bush Avenue.
7. Randall/West 41st Street from Woodbine Avenue to Bush Avenue.
8. Fulton Road from Bush Avenue to Park Drive.
9. Detroit Avenue from Berea Road to West Boulevard.
10. Jennings Road from Treadway Creek Trail to the Towpath Trail.
11. West Boulevard from Detroit Avenue to Lake Avenue.
12. Community College Drive from Cedar Avenue to Outhwaite Avenue.
13. Abbey Avenue from West 11th Street to Lorain Avenue.
14. Walworth Avenue from West 53rd Street to Junction Road.
15. Dick Goddard Way from East 55* to Horizon Academy driveway
