Neighborhood Rallies to Bring Back Post Office - Mobile Unit Coming

May 17, 2021

The US Postal Service is putting up a mobile post office starting May 24th in the parking lot of the months-long closed office at 2855 E. 130th Street, Cleveland.

While the unit will only operate every Monday and Thursday from 9 am until 11 am, the USPS is working on safety upgrades at the closed post office and plans to reopen by October 2021.

“The community, Sen. Sherrod Brown and others really came out together to highlight that the closed office greatly impacted the Buckeye, Shaker and Woodland neighborhoods,” said Councilman Blaine Griffin, who recently held a press conference at the closed office. “I appreciate that the postal service heard us and have offered this mobile unit for the time being.

“While it doesn’t solve the whole problem, it will still be a help to the residents in the 44120 zip code, many of whom are seniors.”

The mobile post office will provide standard services including stamps, package mailing, and money orders.

The mobile station will not offer passport services or have access to P.O. box items. P.O. box customers need to continue to pick up their mail at the Shaker Main Post Office, 3675 Warrensville Center Road, Cleveland.
