About City Council
TJ Dow Ward 7
Councilman TJ Dow represents Ward 7, an area which includes the historic Hough district, as well as the St. Clair-Superior, Midtown and Asia Town neighborhoods.
Councilman Dow, a lawyer and long-time resident of Cleveland, has served and counseled many community and civil rights organizations. He continues that work today, focusing on improving quality of life for residents in his ward.
Since his election in 2007, Councilman Dow has worked to create programs for seniors and youth and to keep his community safe.
Councilman Dow has backed economic development in his ward, including new housing and the recent restoration of League Park, a remnant of the oldest major league ball park in the nation where Babe Ruth hit his 500th home run. Today, League Park, built in 1891, is a community park and museum.
Also in Councilman Dow's ward, the city recently built the Third District Police Station, which includes a city-wide communications center. The three-story facility on Chester Avenue includes community space as well as a public art installation. Up to 330 uniformed officers and civilian employees work in the energy-efficient building.
Councilman Dow serves as vice chair of City Council's Municipal Services & Properties Committee and vice chair of the Transportation Committee. He also is a member of the Development, Planning & Sustainability Committee and the Mayor's Appointments Committees.
Before serving on Cleveland City Council, Councilman Dow gained extensive experience serving as a legislative aide for Cleveland City Council.
Councilman Dow graduated from Ball State in Indiana with a Bachelor's of Science and from Cleveland Marshall Law School. Most recently he served as an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office.
