About City Council
Anthony Brancatelli Ward 12
Ward 12 Councilman Anthony Brancatelli has been a member of City Council since 2005, representing Slavic Village and parts of Tremont, Brooklyn Center and Old Brooklyn neighborhoods.
Over the last decade, Councilman Brancatelli has been a leader in the fight against urban blight, brought on by a national foreclosure crisis and followed by a global recession.
Councilman Brancatelli has led the effort to demolish vacant, nuisance properties, rebuild neighborhoods and hold fraudulent real estate speculators responsible for their devastation.
Councilman Brancatelli is chairman of the Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corp., commonly known as the County Land Bank, an agency that has razed thousands of dangerous structures, replacing them with new housing or community gardens. The Land Bank, now a national model, has successfully turned urban acreage into urban gardens. The Land Bank also rehabilitates and sells commercial and residential properties.
Councilman Brancatelli chairs City Council’s Development, Planning & Sustainability Committee. He is a member of Council’s Finance Committee, the Utilities Committee and the Municipal Services & Properties committees.
He is also Council’s representative on the boards of the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency, Neighborhood Progress Inc. and Cleveland Citywide Development Corp.
Prior to City Council, Councilman Brancatelli was executive director of the Slavic Village Development Corp., a non-profit neighborhood agency that, under his 17-year tenure, saw the building of 500 homes and the rehabbing of 1,000.
Councilman Brancatelli, a grandson of Polish and Italian immigrants, is a lifelong resident of the Slavic Village. He has devoted his professional life to his community and to the city of Cleveland. He lives in Slavic Village with his wife, Gail Glamm, and their son.
