Another iconic script Cleveland sign was unveiled at a permanent location at Villa Angela Beach.
The sign, at Cleveland Metroparks Euclid Beach Lakefront Park, is the fourth permanent sign featuring Destination Cleveland’s cursive logo. The new sign is the first on the city’s east side, joining three other Cleveland logos installed just before the 2016 Republican National Convention.
Councilman Mike Polensek said the location fits the goal of the initiative - to offer a positive, tangible experience with the Cleveland brand as a way to improve locals’ perceptions of their hometown and provide an opportunity for iconic images of Cleveland to be shared throughout the world. The new sign is located to give a west-facing view of the city’s skyline.
Councilman Polensek had expressed concerns last year as to why there was no sign on the east side of Cleveland and worked with Destination Cleveland to locate a site. He said he appreciates Destination Cleveland officials, including President and CEO David Gilbert, for their commitment to ensuring a sign for the east side.
Councilman Polensek also thanks Cleveland MetroParks CEO, Brian Zimmerman, for his support. This event was held on Friday, June 30, at 4 PM. The weekly Euclid Beach live concert kicks off afterwards at 6 pm.
