City Council Welcomes delegates from the American Council of Young Political Leaders

Cleveland City Council is pleased to welcome delegates from the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) Political Studies Tour of the United States.

The seven delegates from Israel will be attending a luncheon on Saturday, July 28th, 2007 with Representative Timothy DeGeeter, Members of Cleveland City Council and leaders of northeastern Ohio's Arab and Jewish communities.  The luncheon will be held at 11:30 am in the Cleveland City Council Caucus Room.

The luncheon is part of an eleven day tour of Washington DC, Ohio and Georgia where ACYPL delegates have the opportunity to engage in dialogue with local political leaders and study the American political system.   The purpose of the program is to expose delegates to the American political system at every level so they may gain a new perspective on American culture as well as develop professional relationships with their American counterparts.

"Cleveland City Council is honored to have the opportunity to host this delegation," said Council President Martin J. Sweeney.   "As an alumnus to the program, I believe that it serves as an important tool that will help our leaders connect with other cultures and to build relationships for the future."

Council President Sweeney had the honor to be selected as an escort for The American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) that traveled to Argentina and Uruguay during the first two weeks in June.

The American Council of Young Political Leaders is a bi-partisan, not for profit international exchange organization based in Washington, DC.  The ACYPL has conducted programs and exchanges with more than 90 nations, producing a global network of several thousand alumni.
