| WHY: |
Through Kaiser Permanente's Community Health Initiative (CHI), Councilwoman Turner and the Kaiser Permanente Ohio Region have joined together to form this project to focus on preserving, nurturing and improving the health of the Ward 1 community. The effort is concerned with economic, social and physical health.
"Before we can comprehensively address our ills and heal our wounds, we must first be able to fully diagnose them," said Councilwoman Turner. "Once we do this, we can chart the best course of action."
"The PhotoVoice project is a vibrant opportunity to delve into the social determinants of health among the residents of Ward 1," explained Debra Parmer, Kaiser Permanente manager of Community Benefit/Community Relations. "It empowers the residents to get a true snapshot of the health of their community, looking beyond the traditional definition of health to examine the impact of safety, economic, and societal factors on how people do – or don't – thrive."
