A funeral expenses fund for the family of 12-year-old Asteve'e "Cookie" Thomas, who was caught in the crossfire of a shootout while walking home from Mary's Deli near E. 55th Street. |

Donations for the fund, set-up by Councilman Brancatelli, will be collected by Slavic Village Development, 5620 Broadway Avenue, when the development corporation reopens on Tuesday, September 4, 2007

"This tragedy results from the disregard for human life of two individuals that resorted to violence to solve a dispute," said Councilman Brancetelli. "These actions are devastating not only to Cookie's family, but also to the community. Now is the time for us to unite and to provide this family with support in their time of need." |
