Councilman Sweeney and Community to protest opening of drug paraphernalia shop

WHO: Councilman Martin J. Sweeney, Ward 20,
Bellaire Puritas Development Corporation, and
the Ward 20 community

WHAT: A protest against the invasion of a quiet, family neighborhood by 420 Smoking Accessories and Clothing, which has planned its grand opening for Saturday and intends to sell products related to smoking marijuana.

WHEN & WHERE

WHEN & WHERE: Protest: Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 3 pm in front of 420 Smoking Accessories and Clothing, 4628 W. 130th Street

Protesters to meet at 2:30 pm at Annunciation Catholic Church, across the street from the drug paraphernalia shop

WHY: "It's obvious that this store intends to sell drug-related products, thereby encouraging the use of illegal substances," said Councilman Sweeney.  "We support Mom & Pop businesses here, but not Cheech & Chong.  There is no place in Ward 20 for drug usage or anything related to it, period."
