STATEMENT FROM COUNCILMAN POLENSEK:
Shooter must be brought to justice; mini-station & gang unit must be reinstated

“The recent shooting of 17 year old Brandon Griffin, who was found in the bushes in front of his home on E. 152nd Street after being gunned downed on his front porch Wednesday evening, is just another tragedy and a waste of a young life.  After meeting with the Griffin family this morning, I am calling on the Cleveland Police Department to conduct an aggressive investigation that leaves no stone unturned to bring the perpetrator of this senseless killing to justice.  Mr. Griffin was a recent graduate of Villa Angela/St. Joseph High School planning to attend college this January.

This shooting, which has the unfortunate result of bringing the homicide rate up to 2006 totals, speaks to our need to reinstate the gang unit as well as our need to bring police mini-stations back into the neighborhoods.  Brandon Griffin deserves justice, as does every other murder victim.  I call upon the Cleveland Police Department and, above all, our citizens to take aggressive action and Take Back Our Streets.”

Anyone who has any information pertaining to this senseless murder should contact the Cleveland Police Homicide Unit at (216) 623-5464.
