Cleveland City Council Common Cause Campaign Totals Point to Success of Program

Cleveland City Council Members and the community worked together to make the first Common Cause Campaign a huge success. The campaign, which ran from October 28th, 2006 until the end of the year, focused on collecting canned goods and nonperishable items at 26 locations throughout the city.

“The Common Cause Campaign was put in place as a way for Council Members to go one step further in giving to the community,” said Council President Martin J. Sweeney. “We are happy that we were able to make a difference in the lives of some of those in need.”

The campaign collected a total of 1677 pounds of canned goods and non-perishables to be donated to the Cleveland Foodbank which Dave’s Supermarkets has matched with a $2448 donation.

“I want to thank all of those Clevelanders that donated to the Common Cause Campaign for their generosity,” said Council President Sweeney. “Together, we are making a difference.”
