| Councilman Kelley urges National Baseball Hall of Fame to recognize historic game |

Councilman Kevin Kelley will introduce a resolution urging the National Baseball Hall of Fame to recognize the attendance record set at Cleveland’s Brookside Park at the Council Meeting tonight at 7 pm.
On October 10, 1915, Cleveland’s Brookside Park in Old Brooklyn welcomed a crowd of 115,000, the largest baseball crowd in Cleveland’s history. The crowd gathered at the park’s northern bluff for the World Amateur Baseball Championship featuring the White Autos baseball team of Cleveland and a team from Omaha. This landmark event in baseball history has been omitted from the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum exhibits in Cooperstown, New York.
“Baseball is a big part of this City’s sports heritage,” said Councilman Kelley. “This historic event should be properly recorded in the National Baseball Hall of Fame so that future generations will be aware of our heritage.” |
