Council's Public Safety Committee to hear legislation on Gang Resistance Education and Training

Cleveland City Council's Public Safety Committee will review legislation to fund a Gang Resistance Education and Training Program on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 10 am. The legislation allows the City to accept a grant from the US Department of Justice Assistance for the 2007 Gang Resistance Education and Training Program.
Council has been moving forward with a Safety and Quality of Life Initiative that will comprehensively enhance day-to-day life in our neighborhoods. Approving funding for the 2007 Gang Resistance Education and Training Program is one of the ways Cleveland City Council intends to improve quality of life in our neighborhoods by comprehensively tackling all side of the youth violence issue.

Under the Quality of Life Initiative, Cleveland City Council, through the Public Safety Committee, will also be hosting a series of hearings on Parental Accountability and quality of life generally. These meetings will also serve to connect the public to best practices in conflict resolution, community activism and crime prevention.
