Cleveland City Council to review the Fannie M. Lewis Law
 
 
WHO: Cleveland City Council's Employment, Affirmative Action and Training Committee
   
WHAT: A hearing to review the following aspects of the Fannie M. Lewis Resident Employment Law, which requires special considerations relative to the hiring of City residents on various construction projects funded by the City of Cleveland at $100,000 or more:
  History of the law, including:
       Goals
     Definitions
     Reporting requirements and process
     Measurement
     Enforcement
     Penalties
     Review Process
  The Contracting Process, including:
       ITB, legislation, bid packages
     Lowest and best
     Employment goals
     Final approval/awarding
     Closing and enforcement
   
WHEN: Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 1:30 pm
 
WHERE: Cleveland City Council's Committee Room
   
WHY: When Council first passed the Fannie M. Lewis Resident Employment Law, the body included a review provision.  At least once every five years, Council must review the law to determine whether there is a continuing need to ensure adequate resident employment, make relevant findings in support of their determination and make any necessary changes to the law.
