Ohio Technical College named 2009 School of the Year

The Ohio Technical College, located at 1374 E. 51st Street in the St. Clair Superior neighborhood, will be named the Tomorrow’s Technician/Chicago Pneumatic 2009 School of the Year during a ceremony at the school on Thursday, May 7, 2009, taking place from 9 am to 12:30 pm.  The Ohio Technical College (OTC) was selected from more than 170 nationwide entries to receive this honor.

OTC is a strong partner in the St. Clair Superior community that has grown noticeably in recent years.  In collaboration with Councilman Joe Cimperman, Ward 13, OTC created a campus master plan to accommodate for its growth that is currently being implemented.  There are now more than 1,000 students enrolled at OTC, who participate in programs in auto service, diesel service, body shop, restoration and power sports repair.  Each year, OTC partners with St. Clair Superior Community Development Corporation to offer $25,000 in scholarship money to students.

“In the St. Clair Superior neighborhood, we have long known what a gem the Ohio Technical College is for the community, for Greater Cleveland and for kids looking to go into technical fields,” said Councilman Cimperman.  “We are thrilled that OTC is receiving this honor.”
