| Council Majority Leader, Committee Assignments Announced |

Cleveland City Council President Martin J. Sweeney announced his selection for Majority Leader as well as new committee assignments at today’s Council Caucus.
Ward 5 Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland has been selected to serve as Cleveland City Council’s new Majority Leader.
“Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland will help drive the direction of this Council and have a major impact on the decision making process of this body,” said Council President Sweeney.
New Council Members Shari L. Cloud, Ward 8; and Eugene Miller, Ward 10; were also given their committee assignments. Councilwoman Cloud will serve on the Community & Economic Development Committee, the Legislation Committee, the Aviation & Transportation Committee and the Personnel & Operations Committee. Councilman Miller will serve on the Community & Economic Development Committee, the Finance Committee, the Employment, Affirmative Action & Training Committee, the Safety Committee and the Mayor’s Appointment Committee.
Councilman Anthony Brancatelli, Ward 12, will be the new Chair of the Community & Economic Development Committee, with Councilman TJ Dow, Ward 7, now serving as Vice Chair. Councilwoman Cleveland will be the new Chair of the Health & Human Services Committee, with Councilman Kevin J. Kelley, Ward 16, now serving as Vice Chair. Councilman Dow will be the new Chair of the Legislation Committee, with Councilman Martin J. Keane, Ward 21, still serving as Vice Chair. Councilman Terrell Pruitt, Ward 1, will be the new Chair of the Employment, Affirmative Action & Training Committee, with Councilman Joe Santiago, Ward 14, still serving as Vice Chair. Councilwoman Cleveland will Chair the Mayor’s Appointment Committee.
Council Members Mamie J. Mitchell, Ward 6, and Michael D. Polensek, Ward 11, will join the Finance Committee. Councilman Joe Cimperman, Ward 13, will join the Health & Human Services Committee. Councilman Kenneth L. Johnson, Ward 4, will join the Legislation Committee. Councilman Keane will join the Rules Committee. |
