Cleveland City Council Members appointed to 2008 Central Cities Council

Cleveland City Council is proud to announce the appointment of Councilwoman Phyllis Cleveland, Ward 5; Councilman Kevin Conwell, Ward 9; Councilman Zack Reed, Ward 3; and Councilman Matt Zone, Ward 17, to the 2008 Central Cities Council, a networking council for the National League of Cities.

Council Members Cleveland, Conwell, Reed and Zone were chosen for these positions due to their experience in City government and their dedication to the betterment of the Cleveland community.  They proudly and respectfully represent the City of Cleveland in the National League of Cities.

The Central Cities Council was established in 2002 as a part of the National League of Cities to provide an opportunity for urban City officials to network, discuss issues and exchange ideas.  The members actively participate in the National League of Cities’ advocacy efforts and concentrate on making sure the needs of large urban centers are reflected within the body.  The Council meets three times a year - in March, mid-year and in November - and will hold its first meeting at the Congressional City Conference in Washington, D.C this month.

The National League of Cities is the oldest and largest national organization representing municipal governments throughout the United States.  Its mission is to strengthen and promote cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance.
