Councilman Reed appointed Vice Chair of Central Cities Council

Councilman Zack Reed, Ward 3, has been appointed Vice Chair of the Central Cities Council.  The appointment was made at the last meeting held by the National League of Cities (NLC) in Washington D.C. in March 2007.

“It is an honor to have the opportunity to be part of the work done by the Central Cities Council on a leadership level,” said Councilman Reed.  “It is my goal to ensure that the needs of Cleveland are well represented.”

The Central Cities Council, a NLC Council, was established in 2002 to provide an opportunity for networking and issues exchange among elected officials from urban centers.  Members of the Council are active participants in the NLC advocacy efforts and are asked to ensure that the needs of large urban centers are reflected in NLC's national policy.

Councilman Reed is also an at-large member of the Board of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO), a caucus on NLC that works to influence national policy positions to promote the special interests and needs of the African American community.
