| Councilman Eugene R. Miller urges Ohio House to reinstate Cancer Commission creation in budget |
| |
| |
Ward 10 Cleveland City Councilman Eugene R. Miller wrote a letter to his former colleagues in the Ohio House of Representatives requesting that they reconsider removing the Disease and Cancer Commission from the Biennium Budget.
The provision relating to the Disease and Cancer Commission had no money attached to it but rather was a policy initiative that would benefit many. The provision created the Disease and Cancer Commission as a way to inform people about Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Prostrate Cancer, and Sickle Cell Anemia. It also focused on studying the prevalence of these conditions throughout the State of Ohio.
“Cancer doesn’t really care about budget constraints and will seek out it victim regardless of race, sex or a balanced budget,” said Councilman Miller, who chaired the House and Senate Cancer Caucus when he served as State Representative. “We are obligated to protect the people of the State of Ohio.” |
