Councilman Matt Zone to speak at the City Club
about his vision for the Gordon Square Arts District and Detroit-Shoreway

Councilman Matt Zone, Ward 17, will be one of two guest speakers at the City Club of Cleveland, 850 Euclid Avenue, on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 12:00 p.m.  The Councilman will be participating in a two-part City Club series that focuses on the commitment of leaders to the revitalization of Cleveland.

Councilman Zone, will discuss his vision for the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood in which the Gordon Square Arts District is located.  The success of the Gordon Square Arts District and the economic development surrounding the district has drawn the attention of both the press and those in the development community.   The ongoing, successful redevelopment of the Gordon Square, Near West and Capitol Theatres in the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood, along with the vibrant success of the Battery and Tillman Park housing developments, are a testament to the City's ability to embrace rejuvenation and grow.

"The presence of Arts and Culture is a stimulus for growth and economic development," said Councilman Zone.   "The investment in and the success of the Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood stems from a comprehensive effort to spark life into a historic neighborhood by embracing the rich cultural history and a future full of possibility."
