News Advisory:

WHO: Cleveland City Council’s Community and Economic Development Committee

WHAT: A public hearing to continue the discussion surrounding the use of residential tax abatement. Council will hear from several organizations regarding their experiences with residential tax abatement. Participants in today’s hearing will include Nate Kaufman, Executive Director of the Home Builder’s Association; Rob Curry, Executive Director of the Cleveland Housing Network; Colleen Gibson, Executive Director of the Cleveland Neighborhood Development Coalition (CNDC); and Diane Smith and James Sosan, representing small local development  companies.

WHEN: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at 9:30 am

WHERE: Cleveland City Council’s Committee Room

WHY: “New housing is vital to Cleveland’s continued revitalization,” said Councilwoman Sabra Pierce Scott, chairwoman of the Community and Economic Development Committee. “In viewing tax abatement as one incentive to development, we want to hear from those that benefit from this tool first hand so that we may better evaluate the ways in which the City awards tax abatement.”
