Ward 1 resident photo exhibit unveiled
at Harvard Community Service Center Open House
 
 
WHO: Councilwoman Nina Turner, Ward 1,
The Harvard Community Service Center,
Kaiser Permanente
and the Ward 1 community
   
WHAT:

The Harvard Community Service Center Open House featuring a photo exhibit of images captured by Ward 1 residents.  
 
Kaiser Permanente partnered with Councilwoman Turner and the Harvard Community Service Center to conduct a photojournalism project as part of Kaiser’s Community Health Initiative.  The photos are related to health through image and imagination. 
 
Some of the photos taken by Ward 1 Residents include:

-        a dimly lit, small room housing aging exercise equipment
-        boarded up homes
-        an empty playground with deteriorating equipment
-        a pair of tennis shoes hanging from a telephone wire

   
WHEN: Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 6 pm
 
WHERE: The Harvard Community Service Center, 18240 Harvard Avenue
   
WHY:  “Kaiser chose to partner with Ward 1 because of the strong community we have here,” said Councilwoman Turner.  “Our sense of community empowers us to take our destiny in our own hands, to improve our health, our community and our future.”
