Beyond the tap: City water service as a catalyst for regional economic development

Cleveland City Council Public Utilities Committee and the Cleveland Water Department attract national attention!

The work of the Cleveland City Council Public Utilities Committee and the City of Cleveland Water Department has been recognized nationally in the American Water Works Association Journal.  The journal article details the efforts of the Cleveland Water Department and the Cleveland City Council Public Utilities Committee in creating a comprehensive financial plan, a Sustainable Water Infrastructure Initiative and a forward thinking business plan.

The business plan includes the establishment of economic development agreements with anti-poaching provisions to be signed by other cities that use the Cleveland water system, a commitment to repair aging infrastructure and expansion to currently developing areas.  The learn more, read the full text of the article.
