Dona Brady, now serving in her eighth year as a Member of the Cleveland City Council, has a long record of
public service.
Prior to her election, Dona was an Administrator in the Office of Cuyahoga County Prosecutor William D. Mason, Housing Court Administrator for Judge Raymond L. Pianka and served as the Vice-Chairwoman of the Cleveland Board of Zoning Appeals. The Councilwoman is also a past President of Westown Community Development Corporation’s Board of Trustees.
Councilwoman Brady is working hard as the Council representative to maintain and
improve the quality of life in Ward 19. She is very much engaged in every aspect of life in her community. She has been successful in promoting economic development, improving public safety, maintaining the wards housing stock and developing additional recreational opportunities for families.
Councilwoman Brady serves as the Chair of the Public Service Committee, Vice-Chair of Public Safety and as a member of the Council’s Finance and Community and Economic Development Committees.
The Councilwoman earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, Cum Laude, in Urban Studies with a major in neighborhood revitalization from Cleveland State University Levin College of Urban Affairs. She also graduated from CSU’s Leadership Academy.
Councilwoman Brady was inducted into the Golden Key National Honor Society and was awarded the 2005 Outstanding Elected Official’s Award from CSU Leadership Academy’s David C. Sweet Alumni Society. Councilwoman Brady has also been recognized by Jobs with Justice for her record of support on behalf of
working families.
The International Services Center and American Nationalities Movement awarded her for humanitarian efforts resettling refugees from the war in Kosova. Recently, Councilwoman Brady was instrumental in establishing a Sister City relationship with Fier, Albania to encourage international trade.
Councilwoman Dona Gallo (Brady) was born on Cleveland’s west side and grew up in one of the many neighborhoods that she has the honor of representing at City Hall.
