Mrs. Shameka Jones Taylor is the Chief Financial Officer for Cleveland City Council. Her duties include preparing and managing a $6 million annual operating budget and $1 million in Neighborhood Equity Funds. She works with the Community Development Corporations to develop these Neighborhood Equity Fund proposals for each of the 19 wards. Ms. Jones Taylor also approves all receipts and expenditures for Council and serves as a liaison between Cleveland City Council and the City of Cleveland Finance Department.
A graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College, Mrs. Jones Taylor holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Speech Communications as well as a Certificate in Financial Counseling from the Crown Ministers & Mount Zion Fellowship. In 2007, she earned her Masters in Business Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College.
After graduation, Mrs. Jones Taylor began working as a Program Specialist for the Teen Parent Support Network before beginning her work with the City of Cleveland as a Budget Analyst for the Office of Budget Management. She also served as a Financial Manager for the Judicial Division of Cleveland Municipal Court and as a Senior Budget and Management Analyst in the Information Technology and Services Division of the Department of Finance before joining the Cleveland City Council staff.
Mrs. Jones Taylor lives in Ward 4 with her husband and daughter and is very active in the community. She is a member of the 2008 Class of Cleveland Bridge Builders, National Black MBA's and has served as a V-Team Coordinator for Cleveland Social Venture Partners. She additionally serves as a volunteer and board member of many civic and religious organizations.
