Nicholas Martin has served as the Special Assistant to Council President Martin J. Sweeney since 2006. His duties include addressing constituent concerns, acting as a liaison for the Council President to businesses and organizations and advising the Council President on policy issues. Mr. Martin also managed the information systems at Cleveland City Council and serves on City Council’s executive management team.
A graduate of Princeton University, Mr. Martin received his Bachelor of Arts in public policy from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He has participated in task forces in Philadelphia and Newark, NJ focusing on after-school programming for at-risk youth and small schools in secondary education respectively. Mr. Martin was a field organizer in the last presidential election, working in Cleveland and its eastern suburbs, and has provided strategic consulting to a number of local candidates.
Mr. Martin is a resident of Ward 18. He serves as City Council’s representative on the City of Cleveland’s IT Strategic Council.
