As resident of Ward 13, Katherine Samsa serves as Cleveland City Council’s Communications Director. In this role, Ms. Samsa oversees the Communications Division of Council, which produces all Councilmatic publications, content for www.clevelandcitycouncil.org and handles all media relations. She is responsible for the staff and budget of the division, all media communications and the development and implementation of communications strategy for the 21 members of Council on an individual level and for Council as an organization. Ms. Samsa works closely with the Council President, Council Leadership and other individual Council Members on the development and delivery of the Councilmatic message.
Ms. Samsa also offers public and private sector clients assistance in the development of communications strategy, media and publicity plans, and marketing strategy on a consulting basis. Included in her list of clients served are Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation, St. Clair Superior Development Corporation, The PRStore and Kaleidoscope Magazine.
In a volunteer capacity, Ms. Samsa lends her professional expertise to the Slavic Village Marketing Taskforce. Prior to working with Cleveland City Council, Ms. Samsa was the news editor/reporter for the Eastside Daily News and an assistant editor/reporter for the Old Brooklyn News as a consultant to the Old Brooklyn Neighborhood Development Corporation.
Ms. Samsa holds a Bachelor’s in English with a minor in Creative Writing from John Carroll University. She is currently in the process of completing her Master’s in Communications Management, a joint MA/MBA program, at John Carroll University.
