Council’s ward lines for the 2010 – 2013 term were redrawn to include 19 wards in accordance to the November 2008 passage of the Charter Amendment on Council size that ties ward size to population at a 1/25,000 ratio.  These new ward boundaries will go into effect with the start of the new term in January 2010 and the municipal elections taking place in 2009 will be to choose representatives for the new wards.  Council Members will continue to represent the ward they were elected to serve through the end of the 2006-2009 term.
